Chiropractors are your wellness doctors who focus on making you feel even better than you're currently feeling so that you can live your best life possible!

To visit the doctor when you're feeling great is something new.  However, chiropractic care is preventative care - chiropractors are not doctors whom you visit only when you're in pain.

STRESS is the #1 cause of disease

Not all stress is bad.  A 20-minute workout at the gym for a fit 25-year old is good stress.  The same workout for your 75-year old grandmother would likely be bad stress!

However, nervous system exhaustion is due to physical, emotional/mental, and chemical stresses… AKA thoughts, traumas, and toxins.

Your body has the ability to adapt to stress when it is young.  Over the years, that ability to adapt lessens and stress builds up in the form of tension.  After years of holding onto the stress, your body starts to feel the stress in the form of pain, symptoms, and disease.

Chiropractic not only addresses the symptoms, but the direct cause of today’s epidemic of stress.

Once stress is removed, your body is restored to a state of homeostasis and balance, allowing it to heal as it was intended to – naturally.

Physical Stress

Car accidents, repetitive motions (painting the ceiling, computer work, weightlifting), postural distortions (sleeping on your belly, laying on the couch to watch tv, slouched posture), bumps and bruises, sitting on your wallet, carrying your purse on the same shoulder, heavy backpacks, and even the birthing process are examples of physical stress.

Tips:

  • sleep on your back or on your side with a pillow between your knees

  • be aware of your posture – do not slouch

  • do not put your wallet in your back pants pocket

  • carry your purse on opposite shoulders

  • do postural exercises that I recommend

  • stretch

  • roll up a towel or use a cervical roll under your neck for 5 minutes every day

Mental/Emotional Stress

Negative thoughts, worries, fear, anger, frustration, deadlines at work, grief over the loss of a loved one, depression, feelings of not being good enough, a sense of powerlessness, financial issues, body image issues, among many others are all examples of mental and emotional stress.

Tips:

  • focus on the positive

  • be aware of your thoughts and words – they create your reality

  • do not talk negative about your body

  • be grateful for what you DO have

  • surround yourself with upbeat, happy people

  • take 1 hour every day to nurture yourself

  • create a gratitude journal

  • be in the question (what else is possible? how does it get any better than this?)

Chemical Stress

In today’s environment, we are surrounded by chemicals in the air we breathe, the drinks we drink, the food we eat, the cleaning supplies we use around the house, and the beauty products we put on our skin.  Drugs, preservatives, tobacco, alcohol, pollen, pesticides/herbicides, mold, asbestos, sugar-free products, toxins in cleaning and beauty products, as well as a host of other substances are examples of chemical stress.

Tips:

  • remove food dyes, preservatives and additives from your diet

  • eat more natural, organic foods grown without pesticides or herbicides

  • eliminate allergens from your diet, such as dairy and gluten

  • decrease your intake of sugar

  • eliminate artificial sweeteners

  • reduce the use of cleaning agents, detergents, fabric softeners and other chemicals, unless they are natural

  • use all natural soaps, shampoos, conditioners, deodorants, and other beauty supplies

  • limit your intake of alcohol, caffeine, over-the-counter drugs, and recreational drugs
