Chiropractic Is Only For Pain... WRONG!

No pain? No symptoms? Then why visit a chiropractor?
A lot of people think that if you don't have pain or symptoms, then you are healthy and there is no need to visit a chiropractor.
That mindset is wrong!
The ideal time to be adjusted is when you don't have pain or symptoms so you can prevent waking up one day and suddenly having back or neck pain (as many people say, “their back went out.” My response is, “where did it go?”).
Chiropractic is preventative care – which means getting adjusted when you are not in pain and don't have symptoms will PREVENT pain and symptoms from ever showing up.
Let me help you understand how your body works:
When you are born, you are born with a full stack of cards that you can use to adapt to the stressors that you will encounter throughout life. Your body is a self-healing organism – it can adapt to stress and heal.
However, as you go through life, you are handing out cards every time you fall when you are learning to walk, slouch in school, encounter sports injuries, sleep face down, carry heavy backpacks or purses, sit on your wallet, spend hours looking down at your smart devices, have a car accident, engage in repetitive motions (exercise), fall asleep wrong on the couch, lift heavy objects without bending your knees, the list goes on and on.
But you don't just hand out cards for the physical stressors. You have to hand out cards every time you eat junk food, fried foods, too much sugar, and common food allergens, as well as every time you drink caffeine, soda, energy drinks, sugary drinks, alcohol, etc. If you use products on your body that contains chemicals, there goes a card every time you shower. Make-up with chemicals? Another card every day. Medicine? You'd think medicine was designed to heal the body, but it's not – hence why it has side effects. Those side effects are a reaction to the medicine. And we're not living in a perfect world – we're breathing polluted air and drinking polluted water. More cards.
Now let's move on to the mental/emotional stressors. Every time you are frustrated, angry, think negative thoughts, or are purely stressed with finances, family, or worse yet, health – that is a stressful response in your body and you have to hand out more cards.
And last but not least, we can't forget the electromagnetic stress that everyone is addicted to these days. The more time you spend on your smart device and computer, the more cards you have to hand out. Also included in this category is radiation from microwaves, x-rays, wifi, and airplanes.
Did you know that the average person today will experience more STRESS in one month than their grandparents did in their ENTIRE LIFE?
This means that people today are running out of cards at a younger age. What happens when you run out of cards? Pain and symptoms show up.
The next question is, “can one replenish their stack of cards?”
The answer is ABSOLUTELY!
How?
change your posture, do yoga/stretch, strengthen your core with pilates, stop sitting on your wallet, stop carrying your purse on the same shoulder, switch up repetitive routines (physical stress)
reduce your intake of processed foods, sugar, caffeine, alcohol, drugs, chemicals in skincare products, polluted water, etc. (chemical stress)
meditate, breathe, think positive, connect with nature, engage in “me” time to quiet your mind (mental/emotional stress)
limit exposure to smart device, computers, microwaves, x-rays, etc. (electromagnetic stress)
choose natural remedies over pharmaceutical remedies
get adjusted
That's right – getting adjusted when you don't have pain replenishes your stack of cards because it removes the interference in your nervous system (caused by stress) so that your nervous system can do its job (to function at 100% and heal the body).
So let's say you have pain, you come to get adjusted 2-3x and the pain goes away. Do you still need to come get adjusted now that you don't have pain?
Well after the above example, I would hope you would say yes.
Think of a broken bone. It will hurt like crazy for a few days, and once it is placed in a cast, the pain starts to subside. However, the bone takes MONTHS to heal properly. Just because you no longer feel the pain of the broken bone does not mean that it is healed.
Chiropractic isn't a quick fix – yes, your pain will go away, but it will return unless you continue to replenish your cards.
Patients who get adjusted on a regular basis rarely RELAPSE and can handle a fall or a stressful event without having any pain because their body is able to adapt to the stressor.
So the next question is...
How can I tell if I'm getting any benefit if I do not have any pain?
Here are some benefits of regular chiropractic care:
