What is pain?

back pain

Pain of any kind is a signal that something’s wrong. Most people silence their symptoms with a pain reliever and ignore the message. But that’s similar to removing the battery to quiet a smoke detector... or placing a piece of tape over the check engine light on your car.

By putting a band-aid on your pain doesn't make it go away - it just masks it.

Did you know that 80% of all human beings will have back problems and/or back pain at some point in their lives?

Why is this?

Honestly, it's because we were never taught to take care of our back on regular basis…like how we take care of our teeth. The simple fact is most people neglect their spinal health. They take a “reactive approach” which means they do nothing until a problem is already there.

The better approach would be to take care of not only your spine but your health on a regular and consistent basis. Aging and stress break down our bodies and unless we are doing something positive to keep our bodies healthy, then we are on a crash course with back and body problems.

If you’ve had really bad back pain, you know what a life changer it can be. It’s miserable. It negatively affects every aspect of your life... you can't move without feeling it. I can't tell you how many people I've met who think it's "normal".

It's not normal... and it doesn’t have to be normal for you!

Common Causes

The joints on the back side of each spinal bone are nerve-rich and if they aren’t moving right or in the proper position, this can cause back pain. The discs between the spinal bones can be involved, too. Trauma can cause the discs to bulge, putting pressure on nearby nerves.

If you wake up one morning with back pain, it isn’t something that just occurred. More often than not, the problem has been there a while and is finally manifesting as pain.

The cause? Everyday wear and tear!

Poor posture, lifting objects wrong, sitting on your wallet, carrying a heavy backpack, sleeping on your stomach, excessive exercise, repetitive actions, as well as chemical and mental/emotional stressors all contribute to the everyday wear and tear that causes back pain.

Your Options:

  • Chiropractic Adjustment (addresses the spinal misalignment, muscle tension, poor posture, etc. that is creating the pain)

  • Ignore it (spinal problems may worsen)

  • Bed rest (may prolong the problem)

  • Therapy (stresses malfunctioning joints)

  • Medicine (numbs the body)

  • Surgery (the most serious last resort)

Why Chiropractic?

Chiropractic care has been PROVEN countless times to be the BEST choice for back pain.

So when you have back pain, make sure you get adjusted. And when you are feeling good, get an adjustment once a month to MAINTAIN your good health. A monthly adjustment will not only prevent major back “flair ups” but will also keep your spine healthy. Massage therapy, yoga, and stretching can also help with back pain and stiffness.

You wouldn’t expect your car to run optimally if you never serviced it and took good care of it, would you? The spine is no different.

Just like healthy teeth need a dentist, a healthy spine needs a chiropractor to maintain optimal health.

Word to the wise: you cannot have optimal health with an unhealthy spine. The quality of your health is largely determined by the health of your spine and nerve system.
